9-19-22

  • Fact: Alex Kukowski has purchased a Sniper IMCA Stock Car.

9-12-22

  • Rumor: Sheyenne Speedway may be racing on a new night in the 2023 race season.  It has been stated that the track is looking to run a midweek show versus running Sunday nights.  

  • Rumor: Buffalo River is looking at changing sanctioning bodies due to not being allowed to run IMCA stock cars this year.  This is rumor came in prior to the Corn Cob Nationals.  However, the switch to Wissota would have some interesting implications with it as well.  

  • Rumor: It has been rumored on the East side of the state that INEX standout Tye Wilke is parking the legend for good and is strictly going to focus on the sprint car side of racing moving forward.

  • Rumor: There has been a wild fire of speculation that a handful of tracks in the central part of the state are going to make the change from Wissota Street stocks to IMCA stock cars.  However, as many people who are in favor of the switch, there are just as many who are not in favor of it.  

  • Fact: After wrapping up the Dacotah Speedway track points championship, IMCA sport compact standout Ken Sandberg has mentioned that he is looking at moving to the INEX legends division.

2022 Silly Season

12-6-21

  • Rumor:​ Brady Bjella will be piloting a IMCA modified for 2022.  This was heard in a passing conversation and will need to be verified but this will certainly make the West side of the state interesting for modified action.

  • Rumor: NOSA will be receiving a new driver this year as word on the street has it that Zach Hultstrand will be moving up this year.  

  • Fact: Southwest Speedway and the Tri-County Speedway have posted tentative schedules for 2022.

  • Rumor: From a trusted source, it sounds as if the Rebel Midwest Mod Tour sponsored by Scott Bintz will be back this year and will consist of three weekends.  One weekend for North Dakota, one weekend for Minnesota, and one weekend for South Dakota.

  • Rumor: The Wissota Street Stock Tour has been contacted by Husets Speedway and they have expressed interest in having the series be part of the night when the Lucas Oil Late Model Series is at the track.

  • Rumor: The Wissota Street Stock Tour is looking to be made of 20 races again this year.

  • Fact: Mason Lemar Racing will be fielding an INEX Legend for the 2022 season.  Mason will be jumping up from the Karting world to the big dirt tracks.

  • Rumor: Erv Grossman will be switching from an IMCA modified to a Wissota Modified this year.

  • Fact: North Dakota will be losing one of it's midwest modified drivers as Lindsey Hansen is moving to Watertown.

11-6-21

  • Fact: The Tri-County Speedway has began to add new clay to their track.  The exact amount hasn't been disclosed to us yet BUT there will be a fresh racing surface for the 2022 race season!  

  • Fact: After a nervous couple of weeks due to poor meeting attendance, the Williston Basin Speedway was successful in having an election with all board positions being filled.  This is excellent news as it ensures that there will be a 2022 race season for the track. 

  • Fact: Dacotah Speedway held their banquet this past weekend and with that the tentative schedule for the 2022 race season was announced.  The tentative opening night for them is April 22 with test n tune on April 16.

  • Fact: Super truck standout Eric Guyout has decided to go sprint car racing for 2022.  He will be mainly focusing on wingless spint car racing with the Western and Northern Renegades in both North Dakota and Minnesota.  He also has mentioned interest in putting a wing on his sprint car as well.

10-31-21

​ The next instaillment of the 2021-22 Silly Season comes out with a mix of track, racer, and rules updates and rumors.  ​​​

  • Rumor: There are rumors coming from the western part of the state that due to legal fiascals the Southwest Speedway may have to change its name to something else.  

  • Fact: The previous general membership meeting for the Dacotah Speedway was held and at this meeting the hobby stock rules were discussed and were voted to be frozen for the next five years.  This class has had some excellent car counts and has produced some of the best racing in the state.  

  • Fact: Mason Rust has acquired McKenzie Hagen's IMCA sport mod and looks to contend in the Sport Mod division in the western part of the state.  

  • Rumor: Jared Summers of Aberdeen, South Dakota has purchased Jared Becks INEX Legend.  It sounds like he will be following racing at Jamestown and Lisbon.

  • Fact: Sheyenne Speedway is looking at adding more Wissota Late Models dates to their schedule.

10-17-21

The 2021 season has ended and the 2022 Silly Season is in full swing already and there has been some interesting movement already.

  • Fact:2021 Southwest Speedway Stock Car Track Champion Travis Ulmer has sold his car to Billy Carrow.  Billy, has already raced a few end of the season specials with it already.  

  • Fact: Travis Ulmer has sold his recently put together IMCA Sport Mod to a driver north of the border.  This would leave Ulmer carless for a very brief period of time as he has already received his brand new 2022 IMCA Stock Car.

  • Fact: Shawn Strand has sold his IMCA modified to Scotty Gartner.  Strand will be acquiring a brand new Rage Chassis for the 2022 and the red Chicken Nuggie Buggie (Jet IMCA modified) of Scotty Gartner is now for sale.

  • Rumor: after reemerging from a season long hiatus, it sounds like Aaron Aaseth will be moving into a Rage Chassis for 2022.  

  • Fact: making his return to the INEX Legends will be Kelly Hoerner.  Kelly has been in the Wissota Street Stock division for a long time and now looks to make his mark back in the INEX Division.  From what we have been told he plans to have both cars at the local tracks.
