Dacotah Speedway will host the fifth annual Ironman race this year and it looks to double down on the excitement that last year brought. Last year silenced the nay sayers that a modified race couldn't be 100 laps without severely negative effects. This year the 100 laps are back and a spectacular field of who's who of North Dakota IMCA modified drivers will return to tackle the punishing task of trying to run 100 plus laps to win. However, there will be a special guest in attendance this year as Kenny Wallace will make his Dacotah Speedway debut at the Ironman 100. Kenny Wallace has lately been a driving force to bring attention to the dirt track scene and can quite possibly be one of the most polarizing figures in dirt track racing right now. He is mostly known for his time spent with NASCAR whether it being his time in the car or his time being a reporter and an analyst. This pavement racer transitioned to the dirt world through the guidance of Kenny Schrader a few years back and has not looked back since. He has now become a perennial front runner in the modified scene wherever he goes and brings a positive outlook to the racing world which is definitely a fresh breath of air. While Dacotah Speedway is a bigger track than the small bullrings that he is used to running back home in Missouri, Kenny has plenty of experience of running the bigger dirt tracks across the nation and has found success at just about wherever he goes. The real highlight to the weekend though is what he brings to Ironman and that is excitement for all. For the drivers, they will get the opportunity to race against a polarizing and well known figure, while the fans will get to witness their locals take on one of the nation's most well known drivers. It gives everyone something to look forward to and even if you're not a fan of his then you get the opportunity to really get behind the locals. Kenny Wallace will be on hand for Thursday's practice night along with the following two nights of racing.
