Life is very much like racing. We are always moving forward with no way to start the race over. However, sometimes just some very rare times we are able to turn back the clocks and witness greatness again. The 49th annual Jamestown Stock Car Stampede will be one of those historic moments as one of the kings of not only Wissota late models but also the hands down king of the Stock Car Stampede makes his triumphant return! The man with his name printed on the back of every sweatshirt nine times will strap in one more weekend! This man is none other than Mitch Johnson!

Mitch will make the return to the hallowed grounds of the Jamestown Speedway piloting one of the 28 Special cars of Jeff Provinzino. Provinzino also is a man of claimed fame at the Stock Car Stampede has won the event three times himself. However, in a wild and crazy twist of fate Mitch returns as the King of the Stampede. Mitch's last participation in the Stock Car Stampede was back in 2013. Since then he has laid dormant in retirement until early this September when he jumped in Ryan Corbett's late model for the Race of Champions at the Seitz Memorial. To watch the legend return that night gave many goose bumps and to be honest I think more people were watching him than the rest of the field.

Mitch is a driver that only comes along "MAYBE" once in a life time and decides to stay on the local circuit. The wins that he has acclaimed over the years is staggering. Let's look at a few shall we? Innaugural Seitz Memorial Champion, 4x Hibbing Labor Day Shootout Champion, Silver 1000 Champion, 3x Dacotah Rumble Champion (mind you that was also the highest paying to win Wissota race at the time), 9x Stampede Champion, and many more memorable races. Mitch raced against some of the best to have ever graced the highbanks in the midwest, Leon Plank, Rick Aukland, Rick Egersdorf and many more. So it's safe to say when we say that the "king" is returning, we literally mean the king is returning. We at the Stampede Shake Down are honored to help cover his entry for the weekend and wish everyone who comes out to enjoy a wonderful weekend!
So there you have it folks, the sixth entrant has been announced and we are excited for everyone involved with our Incentive program this year. Just a reminder of who they are we have Jeff Massingill (one of the hottest drivers in Wissota), Jeff Provinzino (3xStampede Champion), Ryan Dahl (the wild card), Mike Jager (the outsider), Chase Gelling (the prodigy), and Mitch Johnson (the King of the Stampede).
One final bit of business for our drivers. The final incentive is based on your racing performance for the weekend. If you win your heat you will earn an additional $25. If you are the hard charger in the feature you will earn an additional $50. If you win your feature you will earn an additional $100. Oh, did we mention that this is for both nights as well? Yup, so you get double the chances to earn some extra incentives this year! So drivers, tighten your seat belts and get your elbows up, it's STAMPEDE TIME!
