Jamestown Stampede Late Model Contingency

Jessup Pelkey

In 2018, I partnered up with Jon Breckel and Mason Eisenzimmer to help promote the late model portion of the Jamestown Stock Car Stampede. Our goal was to reach out to the racing community to find some late models that had never competed in the Jamestown Stock Car Stampede or hadn't attended the invitational race in the last five years. We wanted to help continue the tradition of the Jamestown Stock Car Stamped and help provide new drivers with the Stampede experience. As a group we decided that we would cover the entry fees of the drivers who would participate in our offer and we also provided a tow money allotment for each driver who partook. In our first year we had four late model drivers participate in our offer (David Smith, Matthew Smith, Craig Rodgers, and Brody Troftgruben). We wanted to thank those drivers for coming over to the Jamestown Stock Car Stampede in 2018 to help grow the success of the Stampede.

This year, we plan on providing that offer to late model drivers again. Both Jon and Mason will assist me with the offer again this year. I wanted to provide a little background on everyone involved. Jon is an avid race fan and the voice of both the Dacotah Speedway and Jamestown Speedway. He has attended the Jamestown Stampede since he was three years old and wants to help make the event bigger and better each year! A lot of drivers and race fans will recognize Mason around the local dirt tracks. Mason runs Mason Aaron Racing Videos and is an avid videographer of racing action around the state of North Dakota. Mason is a huge race fan and travels hundreds of miles each weekend during the summer months to visit numerous race tracks, drivers, and to participate in the racing community.

The Jamestown Stock Car Stampede is entering its 48th year this season. The Jamestown Stampede is one of the longest running invitationals in the Midwest and is a race that has a lot of tradition that surrounds it. The event assists both drivers and fans from around the upper Midwest to participate in not just a race, but a community event for the Jamestown ND, area. This year the Jamestown Stock Car Stampede will take place on September 20th and 21st.

Once again, the quallifications are simple for any driver to accept our offer. You must not have raced the late model portion of the Jamestown Stampede in the previous five years (2014-2018). If you are interested and fit the qualifications, please get a hold of us and we will cover your entry fees for the weekend.

At this time we are willing to cover six late models drivers that fit our qualifications, but we are willing to expand that offer if we have more drivers interested in attending this year. To reach us, please email us at thedakotadirt@gmail.com We look forward to hearing from drivers and can't wait for the 48th annual Jamestown Stock Car Stampede!
