Jamestown Stampede Late Model Opportunity

Jessup Pelkey

Prior to moving to Bismarck, I was a huge fan of my local dirt track's invitational race. The Silver 1000 was a race that is what a traditional invitational race is all about. There was tradition, there was something in the air that you knew that you were about to witness something awesome and big, A few selected classes and a great payout all the way through the field. With my interest, I wanted to see the Silver get higher car counts and I decided that it was time to help bring in new drivers. The original idea was simple, reach out to the racing community to find two modified and two late model drivers that either have not raced or competed in the Silver 1000 in the past five years. Now that I have moved from that area I have decided that I would like to help another traditional invitational race in the North Dakota area. The Jamestown Stampede will be that invitational.

Joining me in this attempt to promote the late model portion of the Stampede is Jon Breckel. Breckel is an avid race fan, who attends races around the state regularly. Most weekends, you can find him at the Dacotah Speedway on Friday nights, as Breckel is the voice of the Dacotah Speedway, Saturday nights in Jamestown taking in the racing action. Like myself, Breckel has an extreme passion for dirt track racing. He has attended the Jamestown Stampede since he was three years old and wants to help make the event bigger and better each year!

The Jamestown Stampede is a race that has a lot of tradition that surrounds it. The Jamestown Stampede is also one of the longest running invitationals in the midwest, as this this year it enters its forty-seventh year! This is one of the major draws that brings both drivers and fans to this event. Both Jon and I wish to help add to the history of the race.

The qualifications are simple for any driver to accept our offer/promotion. You must not have raced the late model portion of the Jamestown Stampede in the previous five years. If you are interested and fit the qualifications get a hold of us and we will cover your entry fees for the weekend.

At this time we are willing to cover four late model drivers that fit our qualifications. If other people are willing to partake please also get a hold of us. Email us at thedakotadirt@gmail.com.
