In a state heavily dominated by modifieds, it's the late model division that will be taking center stage this weekend. The western part of North Dakota and Estevan are known for their modifeds and the action that they can bring to the track and not so much known for their late model action. This will all change come this Friday as the Can-Am Western Late Model Series will debut for the first time hosting three nights of intense racing action. Friday night the action kicks off across the border at Estevan Motor Speedway. One name you will have to keep an eye is Turnbull as Aaron and Tyson Turnbull look to defend their home turf. Saturday is a quick drive down to the Williston Basin Speedway as night two looks to see a handful more drivers join the tour. The Tour concludes Sunday at Nodak Speedway where the Can-Am and the NLRA will square off an epic battle at the Playground of Power.
Sunday will also see a surprise name in the field as North Dakota's own Donny Schatz will be wheeling his car right before defending his Knoxville Nationals title. Other drivers that have confirmed that they will be following the the Can-Am Tour are Aaron Turnbull, Tyson Turnbull, Jim Harris Steven Pfiefer, Jeff Hapala, Hank Barry, Robert Hellebust, and more.
The tour also has additional incentives for each night as the hard charger will take home an additional $100 courtesy of TJD Service of Kenmare North Dakota. There will also be a Tour Points fund for the top three drivers thanks to Finish First Coatings LLC from Minot North Dakota, CJ Oilfield Maintenance & Repair of Estevan Saskatchewan, and Fast Energy Service LLC of Bismarck-Lignite North Dakota. Friday and Saturday night both will have a very hansome purse for the drivers to contend for and Sunday will be no different.
