When you think of invitational or big shows within North Dakota, the North Dakota Governor's Cup is definitely one that you will not want to miss! This year's North Dakota Governor's Cup is going to look a little different than previous years to say the least. The racing Board of Directors made the decision that they were going to go a different way this year by dropping the very popular late model class and add a second night of sprint cars. This decision may be controversial from a distance but it actually makes a lot of sense. While late models are an extremely attractive draw to fans there was a noticeable draw back for them. The late models failed to draw more than a dozen cars on two separate occasions last year it makes a lot more sense for trying a new path.
This year the North Dakota Governor's Cup is going to be a battle ground for the CAOSS and the NOSA 410 sprint series swing into town for two complete shows. That's not all as Buffalo Wild Wings has made both shows qualifiers for the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin" Wings Challenge! The Sprints will be battling for $2,082each night to win! The track is hoping for over 30 sprints each night and are expecting some of the best North Dakota drivers to be in attendance. Mark Dobbmeier and Thomas Kennedy are expected to be in attendance to represent their sponsor...who just happens to be Buffalo Wild WIngs! What also makes the North Dakota Governor's Cup interesting is that this will be one time where the two series truly race each other where both shows are points races.
The North Dakota Governor's Cup will also see all of the weekly scheduled classes racing with the IMCA modifieds, Wissota street stocks, INEX legends, hobby stocks, and the sports compacts. The Dacotah Speedway is very proud that they have one of the highest turnouts on a weekly basis for the IMCA modifieds in the nation. That's not all though, they also can say that they have one of the highest weekly average Wissota street stock car counts in Wissota. With these bits of knowledge it is not unrealistic to see over 135 cars in the pits!
