Just shy of eleven months ago, the North Dakota racing scene was struck with the loss of Robbie Conway. In the time that followed word of the loss spread across the Midwest like a wildfire and the racing world mourned the lost of a great man. During that time many racing victories were dedicated to Robbie and his family, while many cars sported the bright neon #2. Fast forward to the present, the Sport Mod racing family has its eyes on Bottineau as it hosts the 2 Strong Memorial in honor of Robbie Conway.
The small little town northeast of Minot is the home of the Thunder Mountain Speedway which is about an hour and a half away from the bigger city. Thunder Mountain Speedway has gone all out to make this event a can't miss event, which will draw a large field of cars. What have they done? The track has increased the purse across the board helping all classes involved for the event. Not enough? Thunder Mountain have found some amazing sponsors to cover all the entry fees for the night. Yup, that right the IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Bombers/Enduros will all be racing for free! But wait, there is more!!! Bob Harris of Harris Chassis along with Wehrs Machine & Racing Products have donated contingency prizes for the IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Stock Cars! In addition all of this, the hard chargers in all four classes will receive $200! Yes, Thunder Mountain Speedway is pulling all of the stops out to make this one for the ages and we have yet to mention the featured class of the show!
The 2 Strong Memorial Race is directed mainly for the Sport Mods. The IMCA Sport Mods will be competing for an unprecedented $2,222.22! There are very few races around the nation that will pay a Sport Mod winner this much! Yet alone, most tracks don't pay an entire field this much in one night. This purse is expected to entice and allure some of the best drivers in the Midwest to honor Robbie Conway!
