Dacotah Speedway now has had it's first race of the season under it's belt. It saw a fantastic field of cars for the night 104 cars. The IMCA modified portion of the show saw Jason "Big Show" Wolla taking the win over a 36 car field. The INEX Legends and Wissota Street Stocks saw strong fields of twenty plus cars. This is a positive sign for the INEX Legends as next week kicks their Dakota INEX Legends Tour.
The Dakota Legends Tour will start tonight at the Tri County Speedway in Wishek, Early reports claim that a field of 17 Legends are in attendance tonight. The Wiest brothers look to repeat their dominance from last year where they went one two at Wishek. Some of the drivers to watch are Donavin Wiest, Austin Wiest, Troy Hoff, the entire Martin family, Drew Papke, and Tim Estenson. The tour will continue tomorrow at the Dacotah Speedway before moving east to the Jamestown Speedway Saturday. Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon Minnesota will host the closing night and will crown the champion. Expect strong fields of Legends throughout the tour as last year saw car counts in the 20s.
After the Dakota Legends Tour the Dacotah Speedway reloads and presents to the fans the Ironman 40/40! It's also crazy to think about how quick the season is going by, for example in just over a month the Dakota Modified Tour or Turr (depending on who you ask) will be taking place. New this year is the addition of the Dirt Dominator race that will be added the Friday night before the Tour begins. River Cities Speedway will be hosting this event as the IMCA Modifieds have been added to that nights racing. For those who may not know what the Dirt Dominator is, it is where sixteen IMCA Modifieds square off in a bracket style competition. Two cars will face off at a time and will complete a circuit of laps and the winner moves on. The winner of the Dirt Dominator will receive $1,000 thanks to IMCA.TV. So far this year the Dirt Dominator events have been a wild success and has provided some excellent action.

The Dakota Mod Tour makes stops at Jamestown Speedway, Nodak Speedway, Estevan Motor Speedway, Williston Basin Speedway, Southwest Speedway, and concludes at Dacotah Speedway. The night after is the Legendary 50 race held at Dacotah Speedway where the drivers that have competed in two Mod Tour races will be allowed to run for $10,002. This is the highest paying modified race in North Dakota and is truly a race that should be circled on your calendar. New this year is a rain date which will be the next evening. This was added as a result to last years rain out of the event and will hopefully ensure that this awesome race will be completed this year. One aspect about the Legendary 50 is that the trophy for the winner is VERY VERY unique! It is something that differentiates the race from other high paying events.
The final event for this blog is the Governors Cup at the end of July. It will be full out winged chaos this year...or should I say CAOSS... Ok that was a bad play on words but this year it will the CAOSS vs. NOSA highlighting the weekend. From the rumblings that I am hearing, it will be a weekend of great racing and the board at the Dacotah Speedway will be making it one to remember. More to come on....
