This past weekend I attended the season opener for Cedar Lake Speedway and watching Cole Schill pilot his 44 late model to a third place finish. It was great to get back out to the tracks and watch a race for the first time of the season. Yes, this race took place outside of the state but there were a lot of positives to take from it. However, it didn't take long for controversy to strike. The locals were upset about the normal things, track conditions, limited late models vs. late models, the racing season being delayed, and what not. This got me to start thinking about these topics and now for over the course of the year we will run a few different research agendas to see where the fans, the promoters, and the drivers all stand on them.
First area of coverage will be the always popular dry slick vs. tack argument.
Second area to be covered will be Late models vs. Limited/modified vs. mid mod.
The third and final topic is what should the infield be lined with: tractor tires, burried tires, guard rail, wall, or a berm.
All will be researched and discussed as the year goes on.
